Many birds can be photographed from local bird hides, other birds such as the Cuckoo, Kingfisher and Sparrowhawk often need to be photographed from purpose built hides in different parts of the county. Many Seabirds, including Gannets can be seen from clifftops along the coast. One such area is RSPB Bempton in East Yorkshire.
There are also great places like the Farne Islands that need a short sea crossing to get to but the rewards and birds on offer are spectacular.
On the Farnes, large colonies of seabirds come to breed, these breeding birds include the colourful Puffin which breed in underground burrows.
